Instead of worrying about the illusionary “War on Christmas,” how about trying to be a good soldier in the War To End Poverty, War For Equality, War To End Hatred, War on Human Trafficking. Not to mention the War To End Horrible Hallmark & Lifetime Christmas Movies, War on People Who Download Instagram or Purchase a DSLR and Immediately Think They’re “Professional” Photographers, War Against Jersey Shore & The Kardashians, War on People Who Drive Slow In The Left Lane, War on People Who Text & Talk on Their Cell Phones in a Movie Theater. I could go on and on.
Yes, I am the 76%. I celebrate Christmas. I never felt that my right to do so has ever once been encroached on. But let’s be honest. There are plenty of wars worth fighting, especially those that involve helping the people that the very Jesus that is celebrated on the 25th, told us to fight for. The widows and orphans. The “least of these.” Those who have been marginalized by society. Let’s fight for them. Not against some made-up entitled oppression that you feel the government (who shouldn’t even be in the business of religion) and other alleged nefarious elements is supposedly placing on you. No one is going to yank your manger off your yard or your mantle. No one is going to rip the iced sugar cookie in the shape of Baby Jesus out of your hand. No one is going to stop you at your doorstep and refuse to let you leave your house and go to a Christmas Eve service at your place of worship.
Get over yourselves.
