Hulu Decides To Discard The Only Value They Actually Have.
Pretty Soon You’ll Need To Pay For Cable To Use Hulu
(h/t: @GeekyJessica)
I imagine that Hulu is being forced to choose between losing the content their customers want and switching to this authentication service. But you don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows, Hulu. You’re choosing the path to the past instead of striking out for the future.
Why would you tie yourself to the mast of a sinking ship?
Since Hulu is owned by so many “old media” companies, this sadly doesn’t surprise me. They are a sinking ship.
Hopefully, another service like them will eventually pop up that could shake the boat again. In fact, I’m sure one will. If these giant media companies don’t start waking up to the fact that this is 2012, and people consume media in an entirely different way than they did even 5 years ago, then they deserve to fail. My hope is that companies like YouTube, Blip.tv, Vimeo, and other curators of original web videos/series/shorts, take advantage of this and make a push to highlight the quality of the content that they’re providing, on demand, for free.

If that’s the case, then I expect access to EVERYTHING. Past seasons on every show a network has. So, so dumb.
