Helm's Deep

Did you know that you and your wife were one of the first people I really became friends with here on Tumblr?  We were brought together thanks to the power of amazingly tasty baked goods.  You see, Kelly, your beautiful wife, happened to draw my name as her Tumblr Eat Up Buddy.  The result was me receiving these amazing pineapple upside down treats that were gone within moments of the box being open.

But see, that was only a very, very small result.  The real, true result was this…us.  A friendship that has lasted 2 years via a silly little website.  The joy of seeing you marry the love of your life.  Making each other laugh in each other’s comments.  Helping each other through the tough times and celebrating through the great times.  The back-and-forths via the horribly unreliable Tumblr messaging system and email.

And today is your birthday.  How cool is that.  I love birthdays, merely for the fact that it’s a day that people get a chance to refocus their attention and affection on a specific person and celebrate who they are.  And today, it’s all about you, my friend.  Look back on this year for a second.  Yeah, it’s been tough.  But you’ve fought back, you’ve persevered, you haven’t let it change who you are at your core: an amazing, strong, beautiful and caring person.  Despite all of the physical crap you’ve had to deal will, I’ve seen you time and time again put others in your life and in this community before yourself.  You are the best kind of human being, Lacey.  And I think you’re going to see today all across this community that I’m not the only one who knows it.

So, here’s to you, buddy.  May you have an amazing day, filled with all of your favorite things, including all of your favorite foods and beverages, all of your favorite people, all of your favorite guilty pleasures, all of the love that Kelly and the boys can humanly and…um…canine-ly…give, and all of the greatly deserved well-wishes from others who have the privilege of having you in their lives.  I am humbled and honored to call you a friend.  May this year be your most incredible year yet.  And have the happiest of happy birthdays!

Dr. Baffled is a pleasure to follow here on Tumblr.  It doesn’t hurt that he’s 50% of the dynamic duo known as the “Of The House’s,” and 50% of the musical epic-ness that is The Really Good Pot Roast.  My math is a little fuzzy, but I think that pretty much makes him 100% cool in my book.
