Hulu Decides To Discard The Only Value They Actually Have.
Pretty Soon You’ll Need To Pay For Cable To Use Hulu
(h/t: @GeekyJessica)
I imagine that Hulu is being forced to choose between losing the content their customers want and switching to this authentication service. But you don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows, Hulu. You’re choosing the path to the past instead of striking out for the future.
Why would you tie yourself to the mast of a sinking ship?
Since Hulu is owned by so many “old media” companies, this sadly doesn’t surprise me. They are a sinking ship.
Hopefully, another service like them will eventually pop up that could shake the boat again. In fact, I’m sure one will. If these giant media companies don’t start waking up to the fact that this is 2012, and people consume media in an entirely different way than they did even 5 years ago, then they deserve to fail. My hope is that companies like YouTube, Blip.tv, Vimeo, and other curators of original web videos/series/shorts, take advantage of this and make a push to highlight the quality of the content that they’re providing, on demand, for free.

hulu plus
Does anyone out there in Tumblrland have it? Is it worth the $7.99 a month? I recently canceled my cable because basically all I ever watched was the Food Network and reruns of “How I Met Your Mother,” so I feel like I could justify the small expense of a Hulu Plus subscription — but I’d love to hear from someone who’s tried it.
Tried it and was very disappointed with the fact that MOST of the + content available was only through Hulu’s website. We have an Xbox 360 and watch pretty much everything through it via Netflix, Zune Marketplace, etc. So, when Microsoft started offering Hulu+ through the Xbox, we decided to give it a try for a few months, only to find out that much of the content we wanted was only available through the site and NOT through any other device that streams directly through your TV (Boxee, Xbox, PS3, etc.), so we cancelled it.
